Nintendo 3DS Specs



There has been a lot of hype surrounding the Nintendo 3DS and people are trying to find out everything they can about this amazing new system that boasts a 3D experience without the need for glasses. So what exactly does this new DS have to offer that sets it above the rest? Here is a rundown of the Nintendo 3DS Hardware Specs.

Let’s start with what you get in the package, The Nintendo 3DS System with charging cradle, AC adapter and 3DS stylus. You also get a 2GB SD memory card, 6 AR (augmented Reality) cards, a quick start guide as well as operations manual and warranty.

The Features of the 3DS are really what should tell you if this is the system for you so here are the main features:

  • 3D screen with 3D depth slider – Gives you the opportunity to view in 3D without the need for any special glasses. The slider lets you adjust the 3D to fit your eyes as well as the option to turn the 3D function off all together.
  • Stereo cameras – These give you the ability to take pictures in 3D. You can view the picture immediately on the 3D screen.
  • New input interfaces like the circle pad, motion sensor and gyro sensor.
  • SpotPass – This lets the Nintendo 3DS detect wireless hotspots or LAN access points to obtain free software, game data, videos and other information for players, even if the game is in sleep mode.
  • StreetPass – This feature allows the 3DS to exchange data with other 3DS systems as long as they are in range. This feature even works in sleep mode once it is activated.
  • Access features like HOME menu, internet browser or notifications without interrupting gameplay.
  • Nintendo eShop – Purchase software, watch trailers and get software rankings quickly and easily.
  • Compatibility – The 3DS is backwards compatible with most software from the older Nintendo DS systems.
  • System transfer – Transfer software you already purchased from one Nintendo 3DS to another system. This includes DSiWare you may have bought for your DSi or DSi XL thanks to the backwards compatibility.
  • Parental Controls – Parents can control game content, wireless use, 3D use and more.

When closed the 3DS is 2.9″ H x 5.3″ L x .8″ D

It weighs about 8 ounces

Top Screen – Wide-screen LCD display, enabling 3D view without the need for special glasses. Capable of displaying approximately 16.77 million colors. 3.53 inches display (3.02 inches wide, 1.81 inches high) with 800 x 240 pixel resolution. 400 pixels are allocated to each eye to enable 3D viewing.

Bottom Screen – LCD with a touch screen capable of displaying 16.77 million colors. 3.02 inches (2.42 inches wide, 1.81 inches high) with 320 x 240 pixel resolution.

It has 3 cameras, 2 in the front, enabling 3D pictures and one on the inside. Each camera has a resolution of 640 x 480.

Comes with stereo speakers a telescoping stylus, AC adapter and 3DS battery pack.

It takes about 3 and 1/2 hours to charge and will last between 3-8 hours, Longer for regular DS software and less time for 3DS software.

This is one nice post. Unfortunately, for what I’ve known was 3DS are in japanese language format and English are not yet available. Hope that helps.
