We have an official date for the release of the Nintendo 3DS handheld system, March 27, 2011. Not only was the date released but we got a pleasant surprise as the price of $249.99 was announced for launch as well, this is $100.00 under what many were expecting.

With the announcement also came the Nintendo 3DS Pre Order sales and they are already booming.  The 3DS will be available at launch in Aqua Blue or Cosmo Black. The design is not much different then the latest DS model. It has an upper and lower screen. The lower screen is your basic touch screen while the upper screen is where the 3D happens. One really cool thing is this is a no glasses needed 3D, the screen does it all so no special glasses or extra stuff to buy. A 3D slider helps you customize the view to your articular tastes which a very nice feature since not all eyes are created (or age) equally.

Other big news about the Nintendo 3DS is what it comes with and the games that will be available. To start the 3DS will come with a nice little software package pre loaded on its 2GB SD card. It will have a 3D movie player as well as a 3D camera and picture viewer. Also included is a music player that has a 3D visualiztion mode as well as some other cool stuff.

When it comes to a new system one of the biggest questions is simply, what games will be out. As of now the plan is for 30 games to be released between March 28 and the June E3 show. The titles are looking to be awesome as well. Some of the games mentioned are;

Pilotwings Resort , Nintendogs + Cats, Steel Diver, Super Street Fighter IV 3D edition, Asphalt 3D, Lego Star Wars III The Clone Wars, The Legend of Zelda Ocarina Of Time 3D and many more. Just the titles mentioned should be enough to get you excited.

Ever since the announcement Nintendo 3DS pre orders have become a very hot item. Both the Aqua and Black have been on the Amazon Best Sellers list in the top 10 for video games with the Black at number 1 a few times. One thing about system releases is they never seem to release enough. Not just one but 2 Holiday seasons saw the Wii as one of the hardest systems to get. From the looks of things the Nintendo 3DS could follow suit. With nothing but great reviews and hot titles  this could be one of those systems that is sold out on pre orders alone.
